At St James’ Infants we aim to provide broad and balanced Computing opportunities, which are embedded with the creative themes and topics of each year groups curriculum.
In order to raise the Computing capability of children as they progress through KS1 our curriculum is skills based and focuses on children exploring and understanding how to use different technologies.
In each year group, pupils learn a variety of skills from three main strands:
*Computer Science – Developing programs and algorithms.
*Digital Literacy – Communication and E-Safety.
*Information Technology – Retrieving data and organizing information.
As well as learning new concepts and skills, children are aware of how to keep safe online, what is and what isn’t acceptable electronic behaviour and who they should tell if anything or someone upsets them while on the internet.
Over the last few years there has been significant investment in hardware and staff development, this combined with enthusiastic and skilled staff is ensuring that children leave St James’ e-confident with a large skills base and a high level of understanding.
