Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our Maths morning. It was fantastic to see so many of you there and we hope you enjoy exploring maths at home with your children . Below are the web links that we mentioned during the session.

Welcome back everyone!

We have a busy 5 weeks ahead of us, please take the time to read our newsletter as it will give you an idea of what the children will learning about. Each week we will send out homework to be completed at home- this will support what has been happening in class over that week and helps the children to consolidate their learning. We ask that the children also read on a daily basis for at least 15 minutes; we value any comments you make regarding your child's learning.

Many Thanks

Mrs Cook, Mrs Wheeler & Miss Samuel

The Year 2 team

Welcome to Mrs Cook and Mrs Wheeler's class

Science Week - This week we have been designing our own experiments to find the best material for a super hero outfit.

As part of science week we have also been designing parachutes and making musical bottles.

Thank you to all the parents who came to see our class assembly. If you missed it here a few photos of our performance.

Preparing for our banquet: Making Princess Pies and making crowns

Year 2 had a fantastic (if not rather chilly) day exploring Tutbury Castle.

Yoga Bugs. Every Friday the children take part in Yoga Bugs, which encourages not only heathly lifestyles but also gives the children a range of relaxation techniques and ways to be kind to themselves. This week we went on a bonfire adventure in Yoga bugs

Why is light important to different religions? This week we looked at the Hindu festival Diwali. We learnt about the story of Rama and Sita and had a go at acting out the story in order.

Diwali - as part of our celebrations we made Diva Lamps. We explored how clay could be manipulated into different shapes.

Eid Mubarak! This week the children in Year 2 have been preparing for their Eid celebrations. We have been researching how Eid is celebrated across the world. We have also made Eid sweets to share at home, designed our own Menhdi patterns and constructed our own mosques.
